EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading has partnered with Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities to initiate a five-year wheat supply arrangement valued at up to US$500 million. This agreement marks the transition of a 2023 financing plan into a practical import operation for Egypt. Through this partnership, Al Dahra will supply imported wheat to GASC, funded by the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The deal outlines the procedure for procurement under the existing financing scheme.
The pact was signed at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026, with Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also oversees GASC, present at the signing. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, was also in attendance. Details such as wheat quantities, shipment schedules, source countries, or pricing formulas for the purchase were not disclosed in the announcement.
The current financing arrangement originated in August 2023 when ADEX and Egyptian authorities established a revolving credit line for wheat imports. Initially set at US$100 million, this program is designed for annual renewals over five years, with a maximum total of US$500 million. GASC’s cooperation involved Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance. The 2026 supply agreement now provides the operational foundation for GASC’s procurement of wheat from Al Dahra within this financing framework.
Implementation of the 2023 financing plan
ADEX, the export-financing branch of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, offers funding for purchases from Emirati exporters. In 2023, the organization announced that its Egypt facility would support the import of wheat and other key commodities supplied via Al Dahra. The financing scheme created a five-year structure for these transactions with GASC. The recent agreement preserves this framework while setting the operational terms for Al Dahra’s imported wheat supplies.
Having operated in Egypt since 2007, Al Dahra maintains agricultural activities in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company stated it cultivated roughly 28,000 hectares in Egypt and supplied over 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government during the previous three years. This week, Al Dahra highlighted that its broader agricultural platform now services more than 40 markets worldwide.
Al Dahra’s longstanding presence in Egypt began in 2007
While the August 2026 agreement specifically covers imported wheat, Al Dahra also produces agricultural commodities within Egypt. In 2023, the company identified itself as Egypt’s leading private-sector producer of wheat and corn, with around 85% of its Egyptian farm output entering the domestic market at that time. The new accord concerns the imported wheat delivered to GASC through the ADEX program, rather than a separate US$500 million financing arrangement.
The five-year deal enacts the financing framework announced three years earlier, avoiding the creation of another US$500 million facility. Both Al Dahra and GASC have not disclosed the total wheat tonnage covered by the agreement, nor have they provided an annual shipment schedule, supplier source breakdown, or transaction pricing details. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the arrangement remains a five-year wheat supply initiative valued at up to US$500 million under the ADEX financing scheme.
