SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / – During its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, Samsung Electronics introduced the eighth generation of its foldable smartphones, unveiling the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean technology giant enhanced the physical designs, upgraded camera configurations, and incorporated artificial intelligence features across all three devices. This launch also marks the first time an Ultra variant is part of Samsung’s foldable lineup, presenting enterprise users with an ultra-slim form factor measuring 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a newly designed chassis that weighs just 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable smartphone produced by Samsung to date. Its display setup includes a 10:16 aspect ratio cover screen and a 4:3 main screen aspect ratio, optimized for various content types such as browsing, reading, or watching videos. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and can reach up to 3,000 nits brightness under Vision Booster technology. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery, this device aims to deliver both performance and portability.

To enhance structural resilience while reducing overall thickness, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display framework for its premium foldables. This architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying support plate crafted from titanium to absorb impact forces, evenly distribute mechanical stress, and minimize visible creasing over many folding cycles. Adjustments in hinge balance, magnetic force, and display tension were made to facilitate smoother opening movements. For outdoor usage scenarios, the device features a low-reflection finish designed to preserve color vibrancy even in brightly lit environments.

Enhanced Hardware Features for Power Users

The top-tier Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra boasts an expanded display area with an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main screen along with a compact 6.5-inch cover display. Created for multitasking at high volumes and media production professionals alike, this model sports a 200-megapixel primary sensor capable of High Dynamic Range imaging—a second sensor offers a 50-megapixel ultra-wide view while a third provides a 10-megapixel telephoto lens. It supports professional-grade mobile video recording at up to 8K resolution using the APV codec combined with Cine LUT color management tools suitable for advanced editing workflows.

Internally, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra integrates an improved graphite cooling system engineered specifically for better heat management during demanding tasks. It runs on a robust power system featuring a dual-cell battery capacity of 5,000 mAh paired with fast-charging architecture delivering up to 45W through dual paths designed to optimize current flow across both cells. Hardware options include configurations offering up to 16GB of RAM and as much as 1TB of onboard storage operating on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

Software Innovations and Market Launch Plans

Alongside these larger book-style phones, Samsung introduced the compact Galaxy Z Flip8 measuring just 6.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing only180 grams. It features a premium clamshell design complemented by a Super AMOLED cover display measuring4.1 inches,a main screen spanning6 .9 inches,a primary camera boasting50 megapixels, and a battery capacity of4300mAh.Complementing all three models are intelligent software features developed in collaboration with Google such as Gemini Intelligence,NOW Brief, and NOW Nudge. These tools automate background processes, file summarization, and simplify navigation within apps.”

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold8 series will begin immediately after their official unveiling at Unpacked, making them available worldwide soon thereafter, and retail stores will start deliveries on August7 ,2026.The starting price for the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 is set at $1 ,899 .99 ,with regional markets seeing varied pricing for the Ultraand Flip models. The rollout reinforces Samsung’s strategic goal of expanding foldable technology adoption among premium consumer segmentsand enterprise markets around the globe.”
