DUBAI, UAE / RankWire.AI / – Dubai-based carrier flydubai announced a major expansion of its European flight network on Wednesday, increasing service frequencies to key Italian gateways to capture rising international travel demand. According to statements published by Emirates News Agency, flydubai strengthens operations in Italy with additional flight frequencies to Milan-Bergamo and Naples, deepening direct transport links between the United Arab Emirates and Southern Europe. Starting July 31, 2026, the airline will operate a double-daily service between Dubai International Airport and Milan-Bergamo Airport, while simultaneously expanding its flight schedule to Naples International Airport to a daily frequency.

Commercial passenger airliners operate daily international flight routes across global hubs.

The expanded schedule enhances the airline’s overall Italian operational footprint, which also includes three weekly flights to Catania Airport in Sicily and twice-weekly seasonal summer services to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport in Sardinia operating through the end of August. In addition to flight frequency increases, the airline outlined operational adjustments necessitated by scheduled infrastructure work in Southern Italy. Due to planned maintenance operations at Naples International Airport, flydubai will temporarily reroute its daily service from Dubai International Airport to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport between November 1 and November 30, 2026. Regular flights to Naples are scheduled to resume on December 1, 2026, with passengers holding existing bookings transferred automatically to the Salerno route during the transition.

Airline Increases Service Frequencies Across Key Italian Cities

The expanded routes to Milan-Bergamo and Naples continue to function under the established codeshare partnership between flydubai and international flag carrier Emirates. The cooperative arrangement allows passengers to access integrated travel itineraries, unified single-ticket purchasing options, synchronized flight schedules, and through-checked baggage handling across both airline networks. By leveraging the joint network through the central Dubai aviation hub, travelers connecting from Italian airports gain streamlined access to popular long-haul destinations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, including direct connectivity to Kenya, Oman, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Zanzibar.

The strategic capacity expansion aligns with broader commercial aviation trends across the Middle East and Europe, where international passenger traffic has experienced steady post-pandemic volume growth. Operational figures show that increased flight frequencies support growing bilateral trade, commercial investment, and leisure tourism exchanges between the United Arab Emirates and Italy. The addition of double-daily frequencies to Milan-Bergamo provides increased seat capacity for business travelers accessing Italy’s primary financial and industrial region, while daily flights to Southern Italy support rising seasonal demand among international tourists traveling to historic cultural sites along the Amalfi Coast.

Commenting on the network expansion, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, stated that Naples and Milan have developed into essential gateway destinations within the carrier’s European network. Al Ghaith highlighted that the priority remains ensuring consistent regional access for travelers while fulfilling a long-term commitment to enhancing connectivity to underserved markets. He added that market metrics demonstrate that flydubai strengthens operations in Italy with strategic frequency additions to accommodate increasing passenger flows between the United Arab Emirates and Italy, particularly as travel volume accelerates heading into the winter travel season.

Salerno Route Serves as Temporary Gateway During Maintenance

Expanding on commercial operations, Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, emphasized that bolstering direct flight availability to Naples and Milan-Bergamo reflects the core strategic importance of the Italian market. Efendi noted that offering non-stop connections enables international passengers to utilize the combined reach of flydubai and Emirates to access popular global destinations seamless through Dubai. The airline’s commercial leadership confirmed that fleet allocations and operational teams are prepared to handle the increased daily flight movements, ensuring high operational reliability across both passenger and cargo transport channels.

The operational enhancements in Italy reflect flydubai’s ongoing fleet growth and international network development strategy. As the airline continues taking delivery of modern narrow-body aircraft, commercial planners are targeting further frequency upgrades across high-demand European routes. The expanded Italian flight schedules reinforce Dubai’s position as a global aviation crossroad, facilitating seamless passenger and freight movements between European origin points and expanding destinations across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and East Africa.
