Manchester City has announced that striker Erling Haaland has signed a new contract extending his stay at the club until the summer of 2034. The 24-year-old Norwegian, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, has scored 111 goals in 126 appearances for the club. Haaland’s previous contract was set to expire in 2027. The new nine-and-a-half-year deal is among the longest in Premier League history, surpassing the nine-year contract signed by Cole Palmer with Chelsea last August.

The contract reportedly does not include any release clauses, ensuring Haaland’s commitment to Manchester City for the duration of the agreement. While specific salary details have not been disclosed, it is understood that the new deal represents an increase from his previous earnings. Since joining Manchester City, Haaland has been instrumental in the club’s successes, contributing to two Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League victory.

His goal-scoring prowess has seen him break multiple records, further establishing him as one of the premier forwards in world football. Manager Pep Guardiola expressed his satisfaction with Haaland’s contract extension, highlighting the striker’s professionalism and motivation. Guardiola described the agreement as a significant show of faith and commitment from both the player and the club. Haaland himself conveyed his happiness with the new contract, stating, “I am really happy to have signed my new contract and to be able to look forward to spending even more time at this great club.”

He emphasized the support he has received and his desire to continue contributing to the team’s success. This contract extension comes at a pivotal time for Manchester City as the club faces a period of rebuilding. The commitment of a key player like Haaland is seen as a positive step in maintaining the club’s competitive edge in domestic and European competitions. – By MENA Newswire News Desk.
